Welcome to Brown Sugar & Bourbon. I am a freelance food and culture writer who lives in Atlanta with my fiancé Shep and our emotionally ill adjusted chihuahua Billie.
Originally from Southern California (valley girl), I’ve called Atlanta home for the past two years and I honestly can’t imagine living anywhere else—except New Orleans.
I’m a massive fan of bourbon and of employing food to explore issues related to sex, race, privilege, access and economic advancement. A lot of the writing I do here is also focused on me using Southern cuisine to navigate my own heritage.
While you’ll find plenty of delicious seasonally inspired recipes here—and of course a healthy dose of my dry humor—I’m hoping you’ll also walk away feeling like I helped nourish your soul.
